Up to chapter 4, Dorian's innocence has yet to be revealed in the novel. However, I beleve Sibyl Vane is to soon have a strong role to Dorian's weakness. Dorian's companions warn him of love being for the weak and thought of necessary meaning (in my perspective and opinion). However, Dorian's expressions of seriousness exploits his feelings upon certain aspects.
I don't know how innocent Dorian Gray actually is. It would seem like he is because he is described as physically attractive and pure but we don't really know that much about his character as of the first few chapters. We only know what the author has chosen to reveal. He seems innocent at first but I feel like he won't appear innocent for much longer.
In chapter four there is a brief history given about Dorians family. He is considered to have come from a dark family and much of his actions defer what he has been through. His natural beauty also contributes to his innocence though he knows he will not look that way forever
I really feel that dorian grey has a lot going on. He gives off a phsicallly attraction I think he shows how innocent he really was through out the chapter. I feel that he will be innocent through out the whole chapter. He appers to be nices sometimes but he is still kinda innocent. He shows a lot of weekness to through out the book as well.
Dorian Gray is an attractive young lad who captures Basil's attention. Basil believes him to be the most beautiful creature he has ever seen with a "simple and beautiful nature" and detests the idea of Lord Henry tainting Dorian with his hypocritical, immoral, and judgemental beliefs. The fact that Dorian was so engulfed in Lord Henry the moment they met shows just how naive and innocent Dorian Gray was and how easy it was for him to be manipulated. Although you can tell that Dorian is a bit cocky and self-concerned, he is still "pure". Lord Henry is the main instigator of Dorian's personal demise which is later to emerge. -Nathalie
DORiAN GRAY iS VERY SHY ND QUiET..HE SHOWS HiS BUEATY THROUGH HiS iNNOCENT MANNER...i FEEL AS THOUGH HE WiLL SHOW SOMETHING MUCH MORE DEEPER THAN HOW HE iS LATER ON iN THE NOVEL..iTS LY iTS SOMETHiNG DARK ABOUT HiM!
We are able to determine Dorian Gray's innocence not only through his nature but through the mannerism and actions through Basils Hallwards first sighting of Dorian. “I was growing pale. A curious sensation of terror came over me.” Basil said showing how captivated he was of Dorian’s presence. “it would absorb my whole nature, my whole soul, my very art itself.” This lasting impression on Basil exemplifies Dorian’s state of being when he first entered into this new world of status and duty. Dorian was naive and easily impressionable which shows through his fascination of the brute Lord Henry’s opinion.
Dorian gray is more so a innocent bystander in the novel he was described as a innocent and sweet person he is very handsome young man who is very youngminded which he was so gullable and very easily influnced by his surrounding such as lord henry himself.
Dorain Gray is portrayed as innocent due to his attractiveness, however this is only surface deep. Hallward's fascination with Dorian because of Anglican features also adds to his obscure innocence. Dorian also demostrates innocence thru his immediate intrigue from Lord Henry. He also is easily manipulated by him which exhibits a childlike nature. By chapter 4, however, it is hard to conclude whether Dorian's perceived innocence is concrete or surface deep.
Dorain Gray state of being, is for his act of being and also, he can get influence by his surroundings. With help by Lord Henry it has influence the level of his innocence and also his been manipulated as well.
At the start of the novel Dorian is displayed as a voiceless character being introduced to the reader before being present in a scene. As Dorian meets Lord Henry Dorian throws a childlike temper in hopes of recieving what he wants and just as a innocent child he absorbs every word of what Lord Henry says and applies it in his mannerisms.
Dorian Gray gives the impression of "boyhood" or "youthfulness". He and Lord Henry both have this impression and lord Henry leaves an impression on Dorian Gray. Dorian then tries to show a childlike temperament and allows Lord Henry to manipulate him.
Dorian Gray is depicted as a very young, lively, and attractive man. Lord Henry then manipulates him after his little temper showed. He was very easily manipulated by him.
Dorian's innocence is exhibited through his beauty and as well as through Basil's perception of his character before he is tainted by Lord Henry's influence. The influence of Lord Henry on Dorian shows us just how gullible and naive Dorian truly is.
In the begging of the novel Dorian is described as an extra shy person being introduced to the reader. As Dorian meets Lord Henry Dorian loses this shyness, and his true colors are shown. He is really this self absorbed person who cares for only beauty and himself.
What do you think?
